In 1995, an ex-girlfriend, who lived on Sullivan Street, took me to the Riverview Retreat. I have been a regular ever since. I appreciate the generosity and good heartedness of Richard for opening his home to the public. I have net wonderful people there. I have enjoyed the sweat lodges, men’s group, potluck dinners, seminars and other activities at Riverview. My name is Behrooz Rahbar. I am a Muslim from Iran in my mid fifties. I came to the United States after high school to learn English and attend college. I graduated from Bradley University in 1976 with a degree in Civil Engineering. I’m still working on my English. After graduation, I went back to Iran and worked in construction. My college sweetheart came to Iran so we could be together. I thought it would be easier on our relationship if we lived in the States. We lived in Vail for over a year then I moved to Wichita. I have two children, my son Pedram, a Civil Engineer, who lives in Atlanta and my daughter Sara, an elementary teacher with the Wichita Public School system. I am thankful and glad for all God’s blessings. I love people, traveling, learning, nature and you know about the other love. My thought of the day is breaking the cycle of trauma by: 1. Trying to heal ones wounds. 2. Not contributing to other trauma intentionally. 3. Being a conduit for healing others by loving, forgiving, accepting, and being compassionate and understanding. Trauma could be physical & mental abuse, wars, destruction, control and so on. If trauma not healed the victim could end up being an abuser. I believe in peace, love and social justice. |
